Raymundo Palonpon, a father and waste picker from Marikina, uses his bicycle to collect recyclable materials around the city as his primary source of income. Together with his wife, Raymundo has supported their children, both scholars, through years of manual labor, including using their bicycle as an ice scramble vending cart.
Originally from Cebu, Raymundo migrated to Marikina and has spent more than 15 years working as a waste picker. For him, his bicycle is both a mode of transportation and a vital tool for his livelihood.
Raymundo was awarded Top 1 Siklista ng Bayan at the Mobility Awards, where a tri-bicycle was officially turned over Today, February 10, 2026.
The Mobility Awards is an annual recognition honoring exemplary individuals who advocate for bicycling and support sustainable transport. The awards are convened by 350 Pilipinas, MNL Moves , Pinay Bike Commuter Community, The Climate Reality Project Philippines and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities .
