Learning to ride a bicycle has been one of the most life-changing things for me because it offered me the freedom of personal mobility.
It is my love for cycling that I have also been involved in the work that calls on motorists to share the road, as well as to promote the use of bicycles as an alternative form of transportation to minimize our dependence on fossil-fueled vehicles.
A recent study shows that 88% of Filipino households do not own cars and the community quarantines due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the surge of people using bicycles to move around Metro Manila amidst the reduced volume of public transportation.
Last June, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority counted over 100,000 cyclists traversing 6 major intersections in EDSA, with an average of 4,000 cyclists every day.
Nominate a bike-friendly establishment for the Mobility Awards!
We need to prioritize the needs of 88% of Filipino households in Metro Manila who do not have cars, and provide them with reliable, sustainable, and inclusive mobility programs. It’s time for a concerted action among government, commuters, and the private sector to make Metro Manila bike-friendly. And by recognizing the most bike-friendly cities, workplaces, and commercial establishments in the metropolis, we can make it happen!
The Mobility Awards is a platform that recognizes acts of leadership by Philippine local governments, workplaces and commercial establishments promoting cycling as a reliable, efficient and sustainable mode of transport among their constituencies, customers, employees and communities.

I believe that we are at a critical juncture to define the kind of future that we want for our communities. Your nomination will help promote one that values safe roads, clean air, and a healthy climate.
