QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES, January 31, 2025 – 350 Pilipinas Movement Building team conducted a meeting with Tatalon Nanay Power (TNP) to check on the well-being of its members and explore opportunities for collaboration. The discussion focused on understanding the livelihoods of TNP members and their experiences dealing with severe flooding in their community.

We first met Nanay Power in the aftermath of Typhoon Carina and witnessed how mothers took the lead in ensuring the welfare of their community, particularly by leading initiatives on livelihood and ensuring energy access during calamities. Tatalon, one of the largest barangays in Quezon City, is also among the most vulnerable areas whenever heavy rains hit Metro Manila. Their story puts weight on how access to reliable and clean energy can benefit urban communities—not only by meeting daily energy needs but also by supporting livelihoods and improving overall community welfare.
During the meeting, participants also worked on drafting a proposal for policymakers and aspiring candidates, particularly in Quezon City’s 4th District, ahead of the 2025 elections. This proposal aims to advocate for climate action initiatives that support affected communities, such as free solar charging stations and solar-powered energy solutions that can help sustain the livelihoods of TNP members.
Local communities need to have access to renewable energy during disaster response. Truly, renewable energy serves as a lifeline for communities affected by extreme weather events like Barangay Tatalon.
Building climate resilience and empowering communities go hand in hand as we explore how clean energy can benefit urban settings. Stay tune for more updates!
