Prop 30, the Clean Air Initiative, would boost California’s transition to clean, zero-emission vehicles and increase wildfire prevention and response. And we’ve already secured enough signatures to be on the November ballot for all California voters!

The heart of the Tolowa Dee-ni’s ancestral territory, a property known as Reservation Ranch, was stolen from the Tolowa. Over 150 years of mismanagement has left the property abused and degraded. The details of this degradation are ghastly, from the filling of tidal sloughs with manure to damming estuarine salmon habitat for use as freshwater irrigation ponds.
You can review the charges on our past blog post here. We’ve asked for your help before to encourage the state to prosecute the environmental crimes that occured and were ongoing. Tell the Coastal Commission that you support the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation and a clean Smith River.

People vs. Fossil Fuels
Any new fossil fuel project undermines President Biden’s environmental justice and climate goals. The Department of Energy should reject applications for new gas projects that lock us into decades of fossil fuels for years to come. Submit your comment before July 11 to demand that the Biden administration deliver on their commitment to environmental justice.
New Fortress’s first proposed LNG export project is off the coast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, a region losing coastal wetlands at an alarming rate. Permitting this project will contribute to global warming and rising sea levels. The loss of wetlands in Jefferson Parish will impact fisherfolk who depend on the wetlands and clean water for their income. And a proposed export terminal for fracked gas will harm Gulf Coast communities and lock us into more fossil fuel emissions.

To stop the expansion of fracking in Vaca Muerta, we need to stop money flowing to it. We do that by raising our voices and pressuring funders – including U.S. banks – to stop bankrolling the biggest operator in the region, oil giant YPF. The Mapuche Confederation – Indigenous people who have inhabited this land for generations – want this pipeline and exploration of Vaca Muerta to be stopped.

The dangerous Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project has already degraded habitat of endangered species along its route, in addition to threatening the clean air and water of communities. Right now, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is reviewing MVP’s second extension application. FERC has the opportunity to fully evaluate the proposed MVP project by conducting additional environmental analysis and to decide whether or not to let this boondoggle continue to move forward.
MVP is years behind schedule, billions over budget, and missing several key federal permits, and now they want to prolong this process with a 4-year extension.Act now: Tell FERC that you want them to deny MVP’s second extension request today!

There are large numbers of pro-choice Democrats in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and California who often skip midterm elections. We believe the right message on this issue can help motivate these voters. We have worked with Planned Parenthood and other experts to develop these scripts, so you can be assured that you are sending a tested message that will resonate with these voters.
This postcard program focuses on the fact that Senate candidates John Fetterman (D-PA) and Cheri Beasley (D-NC), as well as our CA House candidates, will vote to protect reproductive rights, while Republicans are pushing a nationwide abortion ban.
We’re also sending pro-choice postcards in five House districts in California, with more coming soon.

Vote Forward
In case you missed the news last week, Vote Forward volunteers like you have “adopted” more than 1 million voters who will receive ‘please vote’ letters ahead of the midterms this fall!
This is incredible progress, but in order to reach our 10 million letter goal, we need your help. Will you host a virtual or in-person Vote Forward letter writing party? Letter writing parties are an easy way to bring your friends and family together to build community and strengthen our democracy by writing a lot of letters encouraging more folks to participate in the electoral process.

Environmental Voter Project
Our next post carding campaign will be to Colorado voters ahead of their June 28th state primary!
We’ll be sending postcards to environmental voters who voted in the 2020 General Election, but are unlikely to vote in midterm elections based on their previous voting history. We expect to begin mailing out packages of postcards to signed-up volunteers beginning in late March, and the required “mail-to-voters” date for this round of postcards is on Monday, June 6th.
This sign up form is only for trained EVP postcarding volunteers. New postcarding volunteers should sign up for an orientation below.
If you have not already attended an EVP postcard training, please sign up for one of the 45 minute trainings below. We use very specific designs and messaging that are optimized to increase turnout, so we require all our postcarding volunteers to receive an EVP training before sending postcards.

I am administering a postcarding network in Humboldt County (presently over 300 writers) and we supply postcards and stamps to writers, which are available for cost at several convenient pickup locations. We mostly postcard for ROV (Reclaim Our Vote), which is non-partisan, but have also postcarded for Activate America (which used to be called Flip the West), which is partisan.
