Dec. 15. 2021. Kudos to Concerned Citizens of West Deer (CROWD) in their work to deny permits for two fracking well pads in the West Deer Community. Olympus Energy, formerly Huntley and Huntley, applied for permits for the Dionysus and Leto well pads. Bairdford Park, used by Deer Lakes Youth Soccer, is within the half mile evacuation radius of the proposed Leto Well Pad.
The board of supervisors for West Deer Township denied the permit application for the Dionysus pad, citing zoning reasons. A decision re the Leto pad is planned for January. Text of their decision is HERE.
