On April 4th, 2022, People’s Organization for Progress and many other groups sponsored a Newark, NJ day of remembrance for Dr. Martin Luther King. He was assassinated on this day in 1968. Many speeches and signs included calls for an end to racism and war, for securing voting rights, equality, justice for people persecuted and murdered by police, civilian complaint review boards with subpoena power, reparations and freedom for political prisoners. Over 200 people marched through the streets. Steering Group members and supporters of 350NJ-Rockland participated.
