Thousands of people gathered in Washington D.C. on August 28, 2021 to protest voter suppression laws being passed in states across the country that will particularly affect voters of color and young voters in Republican-led states. Sister marches took place in cities around the country. Members of 350NJ-Rockland traveled to Washington D.C. on a bus sponsored by the Peoples Organization for Progress, Newark, NJ. The event, called the March On For Voting Rights, took place on the 58th anniversary of the 1963 March On Washington which was focused on voting rights, jobs, education and justice where Dr. Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream speech”.
