Members of 350NJ-R participated in a “Climate Justice Through Racial Justice” rally and march in New York City on Sunday, September 20th called by a coalition of many NY organizations. The rally started in Columbus Circle, followed by a march to Times Square. Here are the demands: Support NYC Resolution 864 declaring a climate emergency; a Green New Deal; The Red Deal, prioritizing indigenous liberation; rename Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day and remove all statues of Columbus in NYC; defund and demilitarize the NYPD; direct investment in Black, Brown, and Indigenous Communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis, and equitable response to COVID-19.
