Because Republicans have in general denied the climate crisis and do not have useful solutions, we and many other climate groups have written get out the vote letters for organizations that target Democrats.  Now there is finally an opportunity to write young voters about your climate concerns. Vote Forward sent this message this week:

VOTE FORWARD

Starting today, you can write letters focused on three key issues—gun violence prevention, climate action, and reproductive freedom—to young voters in Virginia.
Write issue-focused letters
We’ve designed these Labs campaigns to focus on these topics because they are critical to young voters nationwide, and because they could be impacted by the election results in Virginia this fall.
For these letters—just as with every Vote Forward campaign—your “why I vote” message should still adhere to our messaging guidelines: We ask that you not mention particular candidates or legislation, and instead write a personal message about why these issues are important to you or how they’ve affected your life

Because these campaigns are a bit different, before you adopt voters from an issue-focused campaign, you’ll be prompted to review a messaging guide tailored to that specific issue. If you need more help crafting your message, take a look at our Building Your Personal Story training. You can always refer back to this email to find the issue-specific guides for each campaign.

POSTCARDS TO SWING STATES — New program for fall elections

In Virginia, we’ll write to rally Democrats to vote in 42 competitive state legislative districts this November. Democrats hold a narrow majority in the state Senate and Republicans hold a narrow majority in the House of Delegates. In Kentucky, our postcards will help Democratic Governor Andy Beshear win re-election in November.

Sign up HERE.

You’ll need to provide your own postcards and stamps for this program. We recommend progressivepostcards, an online store that sells postcards with several of our designs for less than most sellers. We’ll add designs specific to Virginia and Kentucky before sign-ups start, but you can buy general designs there anytime. After you sign up, we’ll email you a list of voters and instructions, which will include an October mailing date and three short message options.

FREDERICA AALTO

Another way to participate is to work with Frederica Aalto:

I am administering a postcarding network in Humboldt County (presently over 300 writers) and we supply postcards and stamps to writers, which are available for cost at several convenient pickup locations. Have anyone interested in joining us contact me.”
