350 Humboldt is sponsoring another sea level rise demonstration this coming Thursday, October 26, at 4 pm. See below for a picture of the very fun last action.
We will meet at Hookton Road and Highway 101 (south of Eureka), another spot that will be inundated sooner rather than later. We have our “Burma Rise” multi-message signs. Bring your oars, scuba masks or other water wear. Or be extra-creative and bring your friends and your own multi-sign rhyming sea level message like: “Hookton Slough is a very big tub, by 2050 glub, glub, glub.”
Take the Hookton Road exit. There is some parking by the wildlife reserve entrance. Please carpool.

FRACKED GAS PIPELINE
Rogue Climate has alerted 350 Humboldt to the following disaster-in-the-making which they are asking people to write to FERC about. (The fossil fuel boondoggles just keep coming — Exxon’s purchase of a fracked gas company for $60 billions, new RNG terminals in Louisiana, endless unless we can stop them.)
“Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorized a huge expansion of fracked gas in the Northwest by approving GTN XPress. This is a harmful decision, but there is still time to stop the pipeline expansion.
“TC Energy’s GTN XPress project would bring more fracked gas into Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and California by increasing compression in the aging GTN pipeline. Pushing more gas through an old pipeline is a dangerous plan, and the project’s pollution will equal that of several fossil fuel power plants—3.47 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
“Communities are joining forces to push back on FERC’s decision to approve TC Energy’s proposal to push significantly more gas through its aging GTN pipeline. And your voice is needed to stop this pipeline expansion in its tracks.“
Letter writing in advance of the Virginia elections on November 7th continues. Got to https://votefwd.org/ to sign up to write 20 letters, which takes about an hour. You will need to be able to print them and have envelopes and stamps. You write a brief handwritten message to a potential voter saying why you vote.
Letter writing is more fun if you do it with others. Join the 350 Humboldt letter writing group every Sunday at 7pm on Zoom at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86943045708?pwd=clVqWVJZNEFQSVl0QWd6VCtOZGtWZz09
