Background:

President Biden has over $500 billion in incentives for clean energy and other climate actions in his climate proposal. That proposal, which was part of the larger Build Back Better initiative, is stalled. Without it we won’t be able to reduce emissions by 50% as the President promised. Now 30 national environmental groups plan to pressure Congress to pass the climate parts of the bill, starting with Earth Day art and demonstrations.

From the Sierra Club, which is one of the national organizations sponsoring Fight for the Future:

We need to dial up the volume on a big bold plan to invest in climate, jobs, and justice, and that means making sure our elected officials hear from us. If Congress and state legislatures don’t invest in an equitable transition to renewable energy and an expanded social safety net, they will leave us vulnerable to the whims of autocrats and to devastating climate breakdown. They will also leave millions of good jobs on the table. Now is the time to give it everything we’ve got. This Earth Day, we’re calling for a nationwide mobilization to crank up the pressure. We have a clear path forward for historic clean energy and social investments–but we’ll need a public groundswell to get them across the finish line.
