PIC
EPIC is calling our attention to an enormous “salvage” logging boondoggle. We only have until May 11th to submit comments.
Please see the article at https://www.wildcalifornia.org/post/is-this-the-largest-timber-sale-ever-california-s-national-forests-in-danger
It contains the address for writing to ask that logging be confined to main roads and that an EIR be prepared. https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public//CommentInput?Project=60950
Here is the letter Dan Chandler sent. You can modify it or create your own version from the suggestions on the website:
· I live in the North zone, but I think my comments apply to all three.
· It is disturbing that you rejected the suggestions of environmental groups that any salvage logging focus on high use roads and those that have specific characteristics that make logging advisable.
· It would also be of use to start eliminating the thousands of miles of roads that are a holdover from a bygone era of cowboy logging. We certainly don’t want to salvage log near roads that should in fact be left to turn back into forest.
· Your proposal ignores the possible impact on critical habitat for multiple species, including salmon and the spotted own. It also may degrade conditions on hundreds of watersheds.
· I agree with EPIC and other environmental groups that the project area is too big and impacts are too great to rely on an Environmental Assessment (EA). The agency must conduct an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) before continuing forward.
OTHER PETITIONS
Let’s Green CA
I wanted to let you all know that my team is calling on CARB to strengthen their new Advanced Clean Cars II rule before the public comment period ends on May 31. Our ask is simple: we want the state to aim for 100% clean car sales by 2030, instead of 2035, just as Washington state recently did!
Folks can use this easy-to-use tool to submit public comments to CARB: please share with any and all like-minded allies!
Resist line 3
Although Line 3 is in the ground, hundreds of water protectors are carrying on the fight by moving through the courts in Minnesota and continuing to monitor, document and report Enbridge’s crimes against the water. We continue to see outrageous trumped-up charges plaguing our beloved water protectors, including “felony theft” charges when no theft has occurred, the absurd charge of felony “attempted assisted suicide” and ridiculous conspiracy charges. Some water protectors may be crushed with fines over $3 million or over a decade of incarceration.
The good news is, many charges against water protectors have been dropped! Now we’re turning up the pressure with a new ask for the Walz-Flanagan Administration, and we need your help to make sure they hear it.
Sierra Club
The Biden administration must act urgently to protect communities and the climate from the risks of gas exports by halting the industry’s plans to lock us into decades of oil and gas extraction and pollution.

From Activate America (Formerly Flip the West): California Campaign
Sign up to postcard in CA-40. We’re postcarding Democratic voters in three districts who have missed elections before to make sure that they don’t sit this one out. You will be writing to support specific progressive candidates.
Third Act – Bill McKibben’s new group is postcarding
Let’s join together as Third Act’s Democracy Force to write postcards and mobilize voters in Arizona and Pennsylvania to request their vote-by-mail ballot in time for Midterm Primary Elections. Learn more below about why postcards and mail voting are vital and effective at increasing turnout. Third Act also has a new campaign to register high school seniors.

Vote Forward: Here is a new advance in targeting letters to where they make most difference. If you write to voters, please take a look.
This year, we’re bringing back The Big Send—our biggest letter writing program of the year—with a goal of sending 10 million letters to voters ahead of the midterm elections this fall. And with you on our team, we’re confident we can make this happen. Because you’ve volunteered with us before, all you need to do to participate is keep writing! Just head over to your Vote Forward dashboard to download a batch of letters.
Postcards for swing states
We need your help to write 550,000 postcards to rally Democrats to vote in the Pennsylvania primary on May 17. Encouraging Democrats to make voting a habit now will ensure more of them will also vote in November.
Sign up now and we’ll mail you free postcards with the design below, along with instructions and voter lists. Volunteers need to provide the postcard stamps. You’ll pick from three messages that we’re testing as the first step of signing up. You’ll have until May 6 to finish writing the postcards.
Environmental Voter Project
Our next postcarding campaign will be to Colorado voters ahead of their June 28th state primary!
We’ll be sending postcards to environmental voters who voted in the 2020 General Election, but are unlikely to vote in midterm elections based on their previous voting history. We expect to begin mailing out packages of postcards to signed-up volunteers beginning in late March, and the required “mail-to-voters” date for this round of postcards is on Monday, June 6th.
This sign up form is only for trained EVP postcarding volunteers. New postcarding volunteers should sign up for an orientation below.
If you have not already attended an EVP postcard training, please sign up for one of the 45 minute trainings below. We use very specific designs and messaging that are optimized to increase turnout, so we require all our postcarding volunteers to receive an EVP training before sending postcards.
POSTCARD WRITING TO VOTERS ORGANIZED BY HUMBOLDT ACTIVIST FREDERICA AALTO
Here is Frederica describes what they are doing:
I am administering a postcarding network in Humboldt County (presently over 300 writers) and we supply postcards and stamps to writers, which are available for cost at several convenient pickup locations. Have anyone interested in joining us contact me. We mostly postcard for ROV (Reclaim Our Vote), which is non-partisan, but have also postcarded for Activate America (which used to be called Flip the West), which is partisan.
