Writing a personal letter and sending it snail mail will sometimes be more effective than an email sign on, but if you are short of time signing petitions can be a quick way of letting decision-makers know your views. Most of the requests compiled below are of the petition or letter sign-on variety, but there are a couple that lend themselves especially well to personal letters.
VOTING – VOTE FORWARD
Sending letters to voters thanking them for voting in last election and encouraging them to vote again in upcoming elections.
VOTING – POSTCARDS TO SWING STATES
Connect with voters in key Senate states: Sign up to write postcards to first-time voters in six states with key Senate races in 2022. Help us make sure Democrats stay engaged and make voting a habit in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

SIERRA CLUB VOTER REGISTRATION
Only 63% of Arizona voters are registered. Send a blank registration form and a letter to unregistered voters:
Print copies of this blank voter registration form and include a blank form with each letter you send. Please do not write on the voter registration forms.
These letters should be put in the mail as soon as you have completed them.
Please follow the instructions here to complete and send your letters: sc.org/LetterWritingInstructions.
When you are ready for your next batch of letters, please request more at sc.org/RequestLetters.
Support an amended SB 467
SB 467 the big fracking/setback bill failed in committee. The fracking has been dropped and it is coming up for a vote again.
Will you help us flood the offices of our 3 targets with postcards and calls? We’ve made it easy for you:
(1) Send a postcard to Senators Eggman, Hueso and Hertzberg (the 3 moderate Democrats who failed to vote for SB 467 on Tuesday) urging them to support the amended SB 467. Help us send 500 postcards to each senator!
Here is the gorgeous SB 467 postcard, including sample language and the address for each senator.
If you have access to a printer, print them out, write a note on the back, and color the picture on front if you like (or ask your kids to). If you don’t have access to a printer, write your message on any postcard or just write a letter.
Green America
The Mountain Valley Pipeline threatens national forests, historic sites, and countless family farms.
The Atlantic Coast Pipeline would have crossed the Appalachian Trail if the companies behind it hadn’t abandoned their plans.
The Alaska LNG pipeline threatens caribou, beluga whale, and polar bear habitats.
FERC has long overlooked environmental and social equity concerns in its pipeline approval process, failing to review the safety of the projects it approves.
What’s worse? All pipelines leak—leading to polluted drinking water and ecosystems.
Communities across the nation, especially communities of color and low-income communities, have been most impacted by FERC’s fast-track process.
Pipelines are far too dangerous to be approved with minimal oversight. People, wildlife, and our climate are at risk every time FERC blindly approves a pipeline permit.
The open comment period to revamp FERC policies is the turning point we have been waiting for and we need your help before it is too late.

Climate Center
Senate Bill (SB) 582, which would establish the state’s first-ever statutory net-negative emissions goal, with a target date of 2035, just officially passed out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. SB 582 also calls for a Just Resilience Plan to drive urgently needed investments in California’s most vulnerable communities. Take action.
We extend our gratitude to Senator Henry Stern for his visionary climate leadership and to UC Berkeley Professor Dan Kammen for his testimony in support of SB 582 (which you can read here). Both were early endorsers of Climate-Safe California! You can watch the excellent introduction and testimony provided by Senator Stern and Dr. Kammen, as well as Alex Jackson of NRDC here (begins at the timestamp 1:59:26).
We also thank YOU, our 1000+ partners and supporters who endorsed Climate-Safe California, for helping to ensure that our urgent message of accelerating climate action timelines in California is being heard by our state leaders! Take action now.

BIDEN REFUSES TO SHUT DOWN DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE
This decision is very disappointing, but the fight isn’t over. This environmental review is our chance to stop the project permanently and we believe that with enough pressure and a thorough review – we will win.
While the review is being completed, we must put pressure on the White House every day and call on President Biden to permanently shut down the pipeline in line with his commitment to improving tribal consultation and taking bold action to tackle the climate crisis. So we’re asking:
There’s still hope to stop the pipeline in the short-term. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is still seeking an injunction from the court to halt the pipeline’s operation until the environmental review is complete.
PLASTICS
Environment America: We’re partnering with our national network to call for a statewide ban on one of the worst forms of plastic pollution: polystyrene cups and containers. Plastics don’t belong in the ocean, and they definitely shouldn’t be in the Mariana Trench.
Tell your governor to ban polystyrene.
