We wanted to let you know that we just helped start a new postcard program focused on making sure progressive voters who care about climate change turnout in local elections this November in some key cities with relevant climate policy at stake. It’s www.PostcardsforClimate.com.

I am administering a postcarding network in Humboldt County (presently over 300 writers) and we supply postcards and stamps to writers, which are available for cost at several convenient pickup locations. We mostly postcard for ROV (Reclaim Our Vote), which is non-partisan, but have also postcarded for Activate America (which used to be called Flip the West), which is partisan.

Please SIGN UP to write postcards to make sure Democrats come out and vote. We’ll send you the postcards, addresses and instructions for free. You provide $0.36 stamps and mail the cards. A number of campaigns are available on the website.
With the help of volunteers like you, we wrote 21 million postcards in 2020, and we saw incredible results! Voters who receive handwritten postcards are significantly more likely to vote. You can help us keep New Jersey and Virginia blue!

Withdrawing insurance coverage from these dirty projects is a powerful lever to keep fossil fuels in the ground. In the past AXA has done a pretty good job – by becoming the first insurer to exclude all coal projects.
And in 10 days, on Climate Finance Day, AXA could do exactly the same thing for oil and gas. Problem is, the initiative is facing a lot of backlash and opponents are doing their best to water down the new policy to save their most juicy and climate-wrecking deals.

Please support HR 2415, Orphaned Well Clean Up and Jobs Act 2021 that proposes to permanently plug, remediate, and reclaim orphaned wells and the surrounding lands and to provide funds to States and Tribal Governments to do so. Retirement giant TIAA (Teacher Insurance Annuity Association) manages $1.3 trillion in assets and is one of the largest owners of farmland and timberland on the planet. Its clients are mostly universities and non-profits. It brands itself as a socially responsible company. And yet, TIAA is still investing billions of dollars in oil, coal, and fracked gas.
TIAA says they will “offset” their emissions with unproven promises like “Nature-Based” carbon sequestration, which have no record of significantly reducing emissions.
Over 100 organizations recently expressed their alarm about TIAA’s misleading climate plans in a letter to the new CEO.
TIAA must reach zero emissions, not “Net Zero.” This is a smokescreen that allows TIAA and others to go on polluting as much as ever.
