350 Humboldt’s general meeting is this week, Thursday the 21st at 6pm at the Gazebo in Larson Park in Arcata. We will be discussing the best times and places for meeting, including whether we want to find an indoor meeting room when it is cold or stick to Zoom. Also John Schaefer will talk about points he made to CARB on how to fix Cap and Trade, Wendy Ring will describe alternatives to burning biomass, and Dan Chandler will look at the role of forest carbon sequestration when we reach net zero.
Bus Adventure Monday October 2nd
Bus Adventures are a chance to get comfortable with public transit while meeting new people, chatting with old friends, doing something positive for climate change and exploring parts of our community. In the past, we have done hikes, lunches, picnics, a tour of Blue Ox and a tutorial on loading bikes on buses.
Our next adventure is on Monday, October 2. Travel with us by bus to Blue Lake for a talk and tour of the Blue Lake Rancheria’s sustainability programs. It should be very interesting to see what they are doing.
Blue Lake has it’s own separate bus system run by the Rancheria. We can catch it in Arcata at the Arcata Transit Center (1:30) or the Cal Poly Library Circle (1:35). Eureka riders can catch the Redwood Transit Bus #25 to Arcata in time to catch the Blue Lake bus. We will meet at 2 pm with Heidi Moore-Guynup of the Rancheria for the tour. Then we will catch the 4:10 bus back to Arcata.
Please email Cathy Chandler-Klein at [email protected] to let her know you are coming so we can all connect on the bus. If you need any help figuring out the bus schedule or have any other questions, let her know. You can also text Cathy at 707 845-0143.
We hope you will join us!
