On Earth Day lots of good news about the climate fight recently – from the forest service adopting conservation as an equal use, to preservation of 13 million acres in the western Arctic, to California employing 6.5GWs of battery-stored solar on the grid yesterday. Another positive is the announcement that the American Climate Corps is now seeking 2000 people to be trained and work with hundreds of community and local organizations on climate actions. Eventually it will grow to 20,000 persons being trained for good-paying jobs in climate and climate resilience. There are part-time as well as full-time jobs and even some summer jobs. Here are some examples from the jobs listings at https://www.acc.gov/join/

  • Mangrove restoration in Puerto Rico
  • AmeriCorp trail building in New Hampshire
  • Conservation intern in Bozeman, Montana
  • Biological technician in Olympia, Washington

Do you know a young person (17 -35) who might be interested? If so, please pass this information along. Note that for many of the jobs the application deadlines are in early May.

Thanks,

350 Humboldt Steering Committee
