350.org and partners are launching a Week of Action starting Monday, February 8. The focus is online organizing to persuade the Biden Administration to stop the Line 3 gas pipeline in Minnesota, the Dakota Access Pipeline, and every large fossil fuel project after that. We have to make a change!
Thousands around the country are making signs with #BuildBackFossilFree that will be shared online by tagging @POTUS.
Can you sign up to join the #BuildBackFossilFree Week of Action by making a sign and sharing it online? Click here to sign up! Please consider sending a photo of yourself holding your sign for use on 350 social media. Email images ASAP to [email protected].
A Creative Call for “Just Imagine” Art Exhibit
Locally, 350 Humboldt’s Art Committee is working with Cooperation Humboldt to create “Just Imagine,” a virtual art exhibit for the 4th annual Arts Dismantling Capitalism (ADC) symposium on Feb. 26-28 being put on by Cooperation Humboldt, Access Humboldt, and the Ink People.
Join us in creating art that envisions a just world. Those wishing to participate in “Just Imagine” are asked to submit work inspired by, or which fits within the context, of the following prompts:
Just Imagine
Imagine a just transition to the next world:
What are the values you want to take with you into a new economy?
What does a solidarity economy based on compassion and caring look like to you?
What does a creative, regenerative, and inspirational future look like to you?
All media and participants are welcome. We would love to see artwork using Just Recovery principles. If you submit art, include an art statement and describe any climate work you are doing and how others can get involved. Due date for submissions to include in the symposium is Feb. 13.
To submit a piece, fill out the form and submit electronic files here: https://forms.gle/jdQJfrAdu7Z1ULcz5. Questions? Contact [email protected].
We encourage you to sign up for Artists Dismantling Capitalism. Register here: https://cooperationhumboldt.com/dismantle-capitalism/
Here’s more about the symposium:
Artists Dismantling Capitalism is an opportunity to gather and network with our local community to better understand how folks are organizing to create a just, equitable, sustainable, and regenerative economy and society.
With art as a vehicle to activate the creative and future thinking regions of our brain, we curate conversations that seek to inspire our bodies into action.
This year’s online platform provides a unique occasion to broaden the conversation with input and knowledge from organizers and artists from around the country who, just like us, are striving to transform their communities.
We look forward to seeing you there!
