Our 350 Humboldt general meeting is this Thursday, May 27, at 6pm. Come tell us how you are doing and when you think in person meetings might work again – or if you like zoom better. See slides of our two direct actions last month at banks that support the Line 3 tar sands pipeline. Hear the poem Calling All Grand Mothers by Alice Walker, from the feminist climate compilation All We Can Save, read by Diane Ryerson. And much more. The zoom information is below and under that is the full agenda.
350 General Meeting Agenda May 27, 2021
Facilitator: Dan Chandler, Notes:
Land Acknowledgement – Hayley Connors-Keith
350 Humboldt would like to acknowledge that where we live and hold our meetings in Humboldt County is on unceded territory and the ancestral homeland of indigenous nations which include Tolowa, Hupa, Karuk, Mattole, Wailaki, Wiyot, and Yurok.
We thank indigenous nations who have been caretakers of the land. Additionally, we recognize that the well-being of all people is bound up with that of indigenous peoples, and we must all take action on the climate.
This acknowledgement compels us to support the Native American Studies program, HSU students and our community by raising money for the Food Sovereignty Lab at HSU which will promote traditional Indigenous food systems and preservation of food sovereignty. We encourage you to donate what you can and/or share this link with someone who may feel compelled to donate.

Consider participating in the revised Ohm-Hour – Dan.
· Basic description: Like taking a virtual powerplant off line. One hour a week they figure out a time when “feeder” gas plants would ordinarily have to be used. By getting thousands of people to reduce their energy use to a minimum in that hour they avoid having to turn those dirty plants on.
· They also promote use of smart plugs and thermostats and have good deals on them.
· Over 125,000 people participate
· Used to be you had to reduce a specific amount during the Ohm Hour. Now they give you points in proportion to what you saved compared to your average at that time.
· Right now they have an arrangement that will pay you $50 for each new customer you bring in, so sign up and then ask your friends. Or you can use Dan’s sign-up link and he will transfer each $50 to 350 Humboldt. https://ohm.co/dwchandl (Usual amount is $20; this deal was announced last week and goes through the end of May.)
· Here is their website: https://www.ohmconnect.com/how-it-works
And here is an article that explains it
