Van Jones is one of the driving forces behind the Green Jobs movement in the United States and around the world. As a young lawyer he worked to get inner city youth into schools and out of jails. Many years ago, he saw that a clean energy economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty was the best chance for those kids, and millions more, to get a real shot at a dignified job and a sustainable future.
"Sleeves rolled up, hard hat, lunch bucket, that’s going to become the image of the environmentalist rather than just our beloved tree huggers," Van said recently.
As we "Get to Work," this year, we'll be talking a lot with Van, the organization he founded, Green For All, and looking for ways to put job creation at the heart of the climate movement.
