With so many fossil-fuel extraction related disasters taking place in the U.S. at the moment, you would think renewable energy ought to start getting more attention. The coal mining disaster in West Virginia, and now, the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico are exposing yet again the immediate dangers of reliance on fossil fuel.

In contrast, renewable energy like wind, solar, and geothermal sources of power, are proven to be much safer. As cable news host Stephen Colbert quipped, the only danger with windmills exploding is a giant "wind spill." Hardly a problem!

As you're planning for your local work party on October 10, we encourage you to contact a local or regional renewable energy company, and see how you might use 10/10 to increase your commuity's reliance on clean energy.
