It’s always good to see the big kids starting to notice things.  A proposal being drafted by the European Commission in the leadup to Copenhagen’s UN meeting states the following:

“An increasing number of scientists are calling for stabilising levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at significantly lower levels than in the past, i.e. as low as 350 ppmv. This makes it even more imperative to ensure an ambitious outcome in Copenhagen in order to leave the door open for such lower stabilisation levels.”

The proposal, still in draft form, will be formalized this Wednesday to spur action on the international level leading up to Copenhagen.  We couldn’t agree more on the need for an ambitious outcome, and look forward to pushing the EU and everyone else to make sure it happens.
