If you’d like to use a custom URL for your site (like “www.mylocalgroup.org”), follow these instructions:
1) Purchase your domain with a “domain registrar” service like NameCheap or Hover where you can register a URL for about $10 USD per year.
2) To setup your site to work with your custom URL you’ll need to create a DNS “A Record” and set it to go to 178.79.154.115 (the old one was 213.52.128.99, which still works for older sites).
The ‘www’ portion of a domain is technically a subdomain, so be sure to also create a DNS record for www.your_domain.com.
If this is confusing, your registrar’s help section can guide you.
3) Send us an email to lo[email protected] and let us know, and we’ll take it from there.
