Is it time to P.A.N.I.C.? Rhode Island is the fastest warming state in the nation, and we need to talk about it. Our coasts are affected by warming waters and bigger storms. Species migrate away or die out. We lose coastland. Flooding happens at the coast and inland. Asthma increases. Businesses are affected. Rhode Islanders are affected. While Mattiello seems to have his head in the clouds, Raimondo seems to be more open to green infrastructure. Talk to your representatives, your coworkers, your friends and family. This is personal and we can all be more accountable. It will take changes in habits, in infrastructure, to create new norms. But it will also preserve our way of life, with lobster rolls, calamari, beaches, maple syrup, and more in our tiny state that can take big action NOW.
