CARI is happy to endorse Leonardo (Lenny) Cioe. Lenny is a career nurse who has been working on the front lines during the current Covid-19 crisis and understands first-hand the threat that this pandemic represents. Yet he also recognizes that the threat of Covid-19 pales in comparison to what we all as Rhode Islanders, Americans, and occupants of this planet face in the climate crisis.

As a Rhode Island state senator Lenny will push for comprehensive climate legislation and a Green New Deal. Lenny sees a golden opportunity for action on this front, given that so many Rhode Islanders are out of a job—and is unafraid to point out that our current General Assembly has ignored this opportunity. He feels we have a moral obligation to do everything we can to save our planet while also raising up the most vulnerable communities in our state at the same time. Given his understanding of the benefits of climate action, we are delighted to endorse his candidacy for Senate.
