In the last newsletter I said to look for more information in the next email about making comments on the 401 water permit for MVP Southgate. There are also updates on the big terrible bill and SB266.
Call Senators Tillis and Budd to vote NO on the Budget Reconciliation Bill!
The Senate version of the terrible bill is even worse than the House bill that passed last month! Too much money for billionaires, military, and ICE; huge cuts to healthcare, childcare, and food assistance; selling off public lands; no regulation of AI for 10 years; cuts to clean energy tax credits; allows Big Oil to fast-track polluting projects with minimal review, and too much more.
Information from Fossil Free Media with more information you can use when you make the calls from 5calls.org is here.
In case you haven’t heard, unfortunately the bill passed in the NC House and Senate. So it’s time to contact Gov. Stein and ask him to VETO SB 266 by writing here or calling him at 919-814-2000. The bill would remove the 2030 carbon reduction goals that Duke Energy is required to meet by law and it would let Duke Energy charge customers for new projects while they are under construction (CWIP). Electricity and gas rates will go up. Duke Energy will build more gas projects instead of transitioning to renewable energy that we desperately need to be doing!
