Hope everyone has been taking care of themselves during this HOT heatwave and drought!

On July 5, Raleigh’s high temperature was 106, the highest ever recorded at RDU. In addition, Raleigh’s heat index was 118, the highest heat index reading ever recorded at RDU!

Summer of Heat actions that began in June will continue through August in New York City with the focus on Citibank, the largest financier of companies expanding the fossil fuel sector. Elders week last week began with a memorial to mourn all we have already lost to climate change. There have also been solidarity events taking place across the country, with three events taking place in NC last week, including this one in Asheville with Third Act NC.

President Biden’s Department of Transportation requests public input on the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) for Texas GulfLink in Brazoria County, one of 20 new oil and gas projects proposed in the U.S. Gulf South. If completed, the project could export up to 1 million barrels of crude oil every day, increasing fossil fuel pollution.
