One last short email before the end of the year with an action taking place today!
Tell Biden now is the time to #ShutDownDAPL!! Water is Life!
The Dakota Access pipeline has been operating illegally for several years – violating Treaty Rights, threatening people and ecosystems, and fueling the climate emergency. The Biden administration’s Army Corps of Engineers has the opportunity to shut down the Dakota Access pipeline before the end of his term.
Back in 2016 we held several rallies in the Triangle in solidarity with the movement to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. I have continued to include actions we can take as the work continues. Today they need our support once more. Join us in demanding its closure and show your solidarity with the movement to #ShutdownDAPL!! Help amplify the message by using this toolkit with graphics here.
Some GOOD NEWS, in case you haven’t heard, but it’s definitely worth repeating!
On December 4, the Town of Carrboro sued Duke Energy, the third largest corporate polluter in the U.S., for decades of climate deception about the harms of fossil fuels! This is the first-ever lawsuit against an electric utility for knowingly deceiving the public about the dangers posed to our climate from burning fossil fuels. The lawsuit seeks to hold Duke Energy accountable for the damages inflicted on Carrboro by the corporation’s campaign to delay the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
