Yes to Wind has gone national, with the campaign concluding a successful first national Week of Action. Between November 15–23, communities across the country hosted a diversity of local events to highlight support for offshore wind. Together, we’re building a wave of visible support that pushes back on misinformation and makes it clear that people say “yes” to clean, reliable energy in their own backyards.

Yes to Wind has grown into a coordinated national effort led by Climate Action RI and supported by Oceantic Network and dozens of regional partners to demonstrate strong support for offshore wind. As the originators of the campaign, Rhode Island plays an especially active role, contributing both the core message and the visual identity behind Yes to Wind — including our iconic YES sign and other visuals, which appeared this past week at partner events from Delaware to Louisiana to Times Square.

The Week of Action lifted up the wide range of voices behind offshore wind — labor, small businesses, scientists, policy experts, youth leaders, coastal residents, and more — all united by the economic and environmental benefits wind brings to communities nationwide. Between rallies, roundtables, webinars, community events, supply-chain business spotlights, and educational programs, the economic and environmental benefits of offshore wind were front and center — including its role in energy affordability and reliability. Here at home, Rhode Island participated in a community-led educational showcase, a happy hour bringing together policymakers and workers across the industry, and a visit to South Fork Wind, where attendees had the rare chance to see turbines up close.

Coast-to-coast, advocates, labor unions, business leaders, and state and local officials are joining forces under the Yes to Wind banner to highlight how offshore wind is creating good union jobs, strengthening local economies, and delivering reliable, American-made energy. See more coverage of the week with the photos and stories below — and see how communities nationwide are saying Yes to offshore wind!

A Week of Coast-to-Coast Momentum

Between November 15 and 23, partners hosted more than a dozen events across the country, including:

  • New London, CT – Nov. 17: A press conference at City Pier featuring state leaders, Attorney General William Tong, and supply-chain businesses highlighting Connecticut’s offshore wind jobs and economic opportunity.
  • Providence, RI – Nov. 18: A family-friendly event hosted by Roots2Empower showcased how offshore wind supports community development and local workforce pathways.
  • Hockessin, DE – Nov. 19: A community film screening for the National Wildlife Federation’s “Coast to Coast: The Need for Responsible Offshore Wind Energy” showcases how responsible offshore wind development protects wildlife and supports local communities.
  • New York, NY – Nov. 20: A livestreamed economic roundtable hosted by WindWorks NY spotlighted New York supply chain companies fueling offshore wind growth.
  • Virtual: Instagram Live – Nov. 20: Climate Action Rhode Island and New England for Offshore Wind hosted Powering Local Economies and Homes with Wind, a live conversation on the important role offshore wind plays for New England’s energy reliability and affordability.
  • Additional events were held by partners in Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana, including research exploration, a wind farm tour, happy hours, and community discussions.

Rhode Island’s Week of Action
Rhode Island had a packed week! Here in the ocean state we had a range of events from education to experience.

  • On Tuesday, Roots 2Empower, Rebuild Woonsocket, and Building Futures hosted their Wind Wind event — the culmination of their offshore wind energy justice friends cohort sharing what they learned in the program. We appreciated being invited to share actions people can take to keep supporting offshore wind.
  • On Wednesday, we hosted a happy hour with community members, policymakers, and people working in the wind industry. Thank you to Sen. Sam Zurier, Rep. Terri Cortvriend, and our co-sponsors: Climate Jobs RI, UETC Surveying, Waterson Terminal Services, Chronicle Heritage, and Offshore Wind Drinks.
  • And on Thursday, the National Wildlife Federation brought us out to South Fork Wind — the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm. Seeing the turbines up close was an incredible way to cap off the week.

Coast-to-Coast this campaign makes the message clear: communities want offshore wind. They want clean air, stable energy prices, strong local jobs, and infrastructure that supports a resilient future — and they’re ready to show up for it.
