Sign and share the Climate Coalition Petition

Join us in asking the Ventura County Board of Supervisors to increase environmental justice in all policies and programs. A simple way to help is by signing the PETITION organized by the Climate Coalition to the Ventura County Supervisors that contains 11 recommendations that create more opportunities and protections for disadvantaged communities.

The Supervisors will decide whether or not to include such programs when they meet on Tuesday, September 1, at 1 p.m.

PETITION:  To support all 40 of the recommendations from the 350 Climate Coalition including these about pesticides, sign the  Petition to the Supervisors:  CLICK HERE

Listed here are some programs recommended in the Petition that would better ensure justice for socially and economically disadvantaged people in the county.

  • Ensure access to food including a more comprehensive program to ensure food security in a crisis.
  • Protect everyone from exposure to pesticides and air pollution, beginning with those who have fewer options for how to avoid being exposed.
  • Inform farmworkers about risks of long-term exposure to dust and inhalation of toxic materials.
  • Support socially disadvantaged farmers to learn regenerative agriculture and have priority for programs expanding access to land.
  • Help people with gas stoves who live near busy roads and are exposed to both indoor and outdoor air pollution to upgrade their electrical panels and exchange the gas stove for electric appliances.
  • Prohibit new oil wells within 2,500 feet of homes as well as schools and other sensitive sites.
  • Prioritize Disadvantaged Communities in a countywide Community Microgrid plan.
  • Support disadvantaged communities with what they may need to be able to do remote work.
