Los Angeles, California — The Los Angeles Alliance to Support Standing Rock call for a month of solidarity with the Water Protectors at Standing Rock. Indigenous Peoples and allies are organizing events throughout Southern California during the month of December.
On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, in the ancestral homelands of the Tongva people, from 10:00am to 12:00pm an Indigenous Peoples-led coalition of Native American rights leaders, bank reform activists, and environmentalists will hold ceremony, march, and rally to demand a stop to the Dakota Access Pipeline and the human rights abuses being perpetrated by Morton County Sheriffs and allied militarized police.
The action will begin with a Thanksgiving Water Ceremony at the Los Angeles River, followed by a march to the Downtown Federal Building where indigenous leaders will publicly rebuke the Army Corps of Engineers and deliver an Indigenous Peoples Notice of Trespass to demand a stop to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In addition to these events, the Alliance has called upon the Los Angeles City Council to send an inter-faith human rights delegation to Standing Rock.
