Support\u00a0this letter<\/a>\u00a0with demands to global leaders signed by thousands of activists, scientists, representatives of civil society and more, demanding our leaders to take steps that are essential to our chance of avoiding a climate and ecological disaster\u200b.<\/div>\n
The first step listed: “Effective immediately, halt all investments in fossil fuel exploration and extraction, immediately end all fossil fuel subsidies and immediately and completely divest from\u00a0fossil fuels.\u201d Read the letter and\u00a0sign here<\/a>.<\/div>\n

The Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) is a 303 mile pipeline being constructed to carry fracked gas from West Virginia into Virginia. \u00a0MVP is working to get approval for an extension of that pipeline that will take it an additional 70 miles from southern Virginia into central North Carolina. The addition, the MVP Southgate project, will cut through Rockingham and Alamance counties, ending at a\u00a0<\/b>point just south and east of Graham, below 1-85-40.\u00a0More information here<\/a>\u00a0on the livestream.<\/div>\n

Ryan was recently awarded a\u00a0prestigious residential fello<\/span><\/span>wship from the National Humanities Center and is the 2019 recipient of the NC Environmental Justice Network\u2019s Steve Wing International\u00a0Environmental Justice Award.\u00a0Ryan<\/span>\u00a0has studied climate change impacts in Indigenous communities and has worked with communities most at risk from the effects of climate change.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Registration here<\/a>. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
