The climate crisis is an emergency but we\u2019re not acting like it. Invite your colleagues, friends, family, clubs, and community. We need everyone!!<\/p>\n<p>Part of our event will be a \u201cparade\u201d going around the education tables and gathering pieces of the puzzle\/quilt with people joining along the way, that we will use to create a beautiful visual in the center, showing how we need all of the connections and pieces to this puzzle to help with the climate emergency we are in. We will deliver letters to the NC General Assembly (Sen. Berger and Speaker Moore) and some of our own legislators, Governor Cooper&#8217;s office, NC Public Utility Commission, and NC Department of Environmental Quality. There will be suggested actions people can take the following week during the Global Week of Climate Action through September 27 with phone calls and personal actions. Happy to say there are now 779 climate strikes planned in the U.S, over 44,000 RSVPs in the U.S., and over 3,500 strikes across the world!! People power and the climate movement is gratefully growing!<\/p>\n<p>Delighted to learn UNC and Duke students are working together on the Bike for the Climate event, beginning in Chapel Hill on the 20th. Some people will be riding their bikes to Raleigh for the Triangle Climate Strike. Others will be carpooling or taking the bus from Chapel Hill and Durham.
