This flexible, largely remote position is well-suited to a self-directed, strategic thinker who enjoys building systems, cultivating relationships, and turning opportunities into lasting support.<br \/>\nWorking closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and Board of Directors, this role will lead our grant writing efforts, strengthen donor stewardship, improve fundraising systems and materials, and help create a comprehensive fundraising strategy.<\/p>\n<p>As a growing organization, this role offers genuine impact and room to shape what successful development work looks like at CARI EF. Together with our 501(c)(4) sister organization, Climate Action Rhode Island (CARI), we work to accelerate Rhode Island&#8217;s transition to clean energy. Through grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and community education, we engage residents across the state to build political will and advance practical, equitable climate solutions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the role:<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u223c15 hours\/week \u00b7 $30 \u2013 $35\/hour (depending on experience) \u00b7 Largely Remote<\/p>\n<p>FUNDRAISING &amp; DEVELOPMENT<br \/>\n\u2022 Support development and implementation of CARI EF\u2019s multi-year fundraising strategy.<br \/>\n\u2022 Research, write, and submit grant proposals and reports.<br \/>\n\u2022 Build and maintain a grant tracking system.<br \/>\n\u2022 Identify new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Strengthen relationships with grant officers and institutional funders.<br \/>\n\u2022 Revise fundraising materials, including our donation webpage and case for support.<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop strategies to grow monthly sustaining donors and membership model.<\/p>\n<p>DONOR ENGAGEMENT &amp; BOARD SUPPORT<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop donor cultivation and stewardship systems.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain donor records and segmented donor lists.<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinate donor communications.<br \/>\n\u2022 Work with board members to strengthen their fundraising engagement.<br \/>\n\u2022 Help plan and support fundraising events.<br \/>\n\u2022 Track fundraising progress and recommend improvements to maximize long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated commitment to climate action, clean energy, and environmental justice.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, development, or related work.<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong writing and editing skills.<br \/>\n\u2022 Self-driven, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.<br \/>\n\u2022 Skilled relationship-builder with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Familiarity with donor databases, CRM systems, or fundraising platforms preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.).<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, and board members.<br \/>\n\u2022 Availability for occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising events across RI.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a largely remote position with flexible hours and occasional in-person meetings and events throughout Rhode Island. Candidates must provide their own computer and phone and have reliable statewide transportation.
