Climate Action Rhode Island is thrilled to announce our enthusiastic endorsement of Sue AnderBois for Lieutenant Governor. Sue, a proven climate champion, has been working for a cleaner future alongside CARI and other grassroots environmental groups since our founding in 2017.<\/p>\n

Sue brings unmatched expertise, including having started the Solarize program for Rhode Island\u2019s OER in 2014 and directing The Nature Conservancy\u2019s climate work across the Northeast for years. Most recently, after winning election as a CARI-endorsed candidate for Providence City Council, Sue spearheaded passage of the \u201cBuilding Energy Reporting Ordinance,\u201d a law that helps building owners reduce their energy use, as well as the ordinance requiring all municipal buildings to be carbon neutral by 2040. Beyond her expertise, Sue’s unfailingly positive and energetic personality is a source of inspiration for a movement that often feels like an uphill battle.<\/p>\n

For Rhode Islanders concerned about the climate crisis, electing Sue to statewide office is a strategic necessity. Governor McKee has proposed to unravel our state\u2019s renewable energy standard, and his challenger Helena Foulkes has thus far been quiet on climate issues. This makes the role of Lieutenant Governor critical. We need an outspoken, knowledgeable advocate in the State House who will counter the propaganda from the oil industry and our energy utility to promote a clean energy agenda\u2014one that protects Rhode Islanders from the public health harms and volatile, skyrocketing costs of fossil fuels.<\/p>\n

Sue AnderBois has earned the unanimous support of CARI’s Statewide Elections Team, our Politics Team, our Leadership Team, and our Board. We urge all Rhode Islanders who care about a livable future to donate to and volunteer for Sue at SueAnderBois.com, and of course to cast their vote for her on September 8.<\/p>\n
