The Democratic National Committee<\/a> this week quietly dropped language calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks from its party platform, HuffPost has learned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On July 27, officials added an amendment to the Manager\u2019s Mark, a ledger of party demands voted on as one omnibus package, stating: \u201cDemocrats<\/a> support eliminating tax breaks and subsidies for fossil fuels, and will fight to defend and extend tax incentives for energy efficiency and clean energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The amendment was approved. But the statement \u2015 which reflects pledges presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden<\/a> and his running mate, Kamala Harris<\/a>, each made on the campaign trail \u2015 disappeared from the final draft of the party platform circulated Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In an emailed statement, a DNC spokesperson said the amendment was \u201cincorrectly included in the Manager\u2019s Mark\u201d and taken out \u201cafter the error was discovered.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Activists accused the DNC of retroactively removing the amendment from the final draft of the platform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
