For the next 25 years, the electricity produced at these sites will be purchased by the University at a price competitive to standard electricity prices, Penn Today reported.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"spotx_content_container_1\" data-spotx_content_container_generated=\"true\"><\/div>\n<p>Seventy-five percent of the required electricity for the academic campus and the University of Pennsylvania Health System will be provided by these sites, placing the project among the top of solar and wind installations within the Ivy League, Penn Today reported.<\/p>\n<p>The purchase accelerates the University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedp.com\/article\/2019\/10\/climate-sustainability-action-plan-3-0-environment-upenn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">commitment<\/a> to a 100% carbon-neutral campus by 2042, as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainability.upenn.edu\/our-commitment\/our-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate and Sustainability Action Plan 3.0<\/a> released in October.<\/p>\n<p>photo caption\/credit: Penn&#8217;s Power Purchase Agreement will cover 75% of the power needs required by Penn\u2019s campus and health system.
