The Polytechnic University of the Philippines\u2019 Institute of Technology (PUP-ITech) and 350 Pilipinas have solidified their commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).<\/p><\/div>\n

November 19, 2024 – The Polytechnic University of the Philippines\u2019 Institute of Technology (PUP-ITech) and 350 Pilipinas have solidified their commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). This partnership amplifies PUP-ITech\u2019s dedication to fostering sustainable renewable energy that empower communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MOA was signed by Institute of Technology Dean, Mr. Ramir M. Cruz, MSCM,\u00a0 the Chairperson of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology, Raymond L. Alfonso, MBA, 350 Pilipinas\u2019 National Coordinator Fread De Mesa, and 350 Pilipinas\u2019 campus organizer Jawo Jayme<\/span><\/p>\n

This collaboration aims to ensure equitable access to renewable energy, enhance capacity-building opportunities for students and faculty, and integrate renewable energy (RE) into the university\u2019s curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, PUP-ITech students, in partnership with 350 Pilipinas, successfully piloted a solar-powered charging station at the institute. This initiative demonstrates the transformative potential of RE in addressing the energy needs of communities. Additionally, the partnership spearheaded a Community-Owned Renewable Energy (CORE) training, which showcased Philippines\u2019 Green Energy Option mechanism that institutions could utilize to switch to clean energy source, and the vital role of grassroots efforts in promoting energy resilience. A notable example was the initiative led by mothers in Brgy. Tatalon, who provided renewable energy solutions to their community in the wake of Typhoon Carina.<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on these successes, PUP-ITech plans to establish additional solar-powered charging stations across the campus in the coming months. These efforts highlight renewable energy as a people-centered, practical, and sustainable energy source, while also presenting viable career opportunities in the RE sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

350 Pilipinas echoed this vision, emphasizing the importance of empowering institutions and communities to be at the forefront of the renewable energy transition.<\/span><\/p>\n
