In January 15, 2026 pedicab drivers and their associations, the PUP community, and 350 Pilipinas held the community launch of Kapadyak Kasinta, a collaborative research project led by the PUP–Center for Labor and Industrial Studies and 350 Pilipinas.
The study examined the conditions and characteristics of pedal-operated transport fleets surrounding the university and explored how pedicab drivers perceive electrification and its potential impacts on pedal-powered transport.
The findings are clear: although pedicabs remain among the least prioritized modes of public transportation, they play a vital role in interlinking communities. With minimal contribution to harmful emissions, pedicabs present a strong opportunity to be recognized, supported, and further developed as a sustainable and humane transport option for communities.
