How would Northwest Florida artists and designers visualize a Clean Energy Future?
350 Pensacola, a citizens’ coalition working for a sustainable future, is hosting the first annual Clean Energy Fest to see the future through the eyes of our region’s most creative thinkers.
The Clean Energy Fest, planned for November 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is part of the 2015 Foo Foo Festival, celebrating arts and culture in Pensacola and the Gulf Coast.
The juried art exhibition, “The Future of Energy,” asks artists to showcase an energy future (wind, solar, people power, etc.) in all genres of art and design.
Artwork for this innovative exhibition will be juried by Pensacola’s professional arts, energy, and architectural communities: Jim Jipson (Visual Arts, UWF) will serve as Judge. Jurors include: Rachael Pongetti (Photography, UWF); Brianna Sharpe (Board Member, First City Arts Center and Art Curator, PSC); Gregory Saunders (Drawing, UWF), Dave Robau (Gulf Coast Energy Network), and Jordan Yee (Architect, DAG Architects).
Artists should go to the Call to Artists at 350 Pensacola to submit art digitally for judging. Selected artwork may be placed on the 350 Pensacola website and used in other promotional materials for the Clean Energy Fest and the Foo Foo Festival, and selected art will be displayed at the Clean Energy Fest at the historic Sacred Heart Hospital Building on 12th Avenue in the East Hill Neighborhood of Pensacola. Artists with the top three entries will receive cash prizes for their work.
An art competition for middle school and high school students will also be featured at the event. Students should talk to their school art instructor about how to enter the contest. (See links to download information below.) A drawing from entries will award clean energy prizes.
The Clean Energy Fest celebrates our vision of a clean energy future through live music, food, fun activities, and a juried, themed art exhibition at the historic Sacred Heart Hospital Building on 12th Avenue in the East Hill Neighborhood of Pensacola.
Come join us to see the future through the eyes of artists and designers in our community! Join the conversation and enjoy a day of music, great food from The East Hill Yard, and educational activities for adults and children.
