350 Pacific is a youth led grassroots network working with communities to fight climate change from the Pacific Islands.
350 Pacific works with organisers across 15 Pacific Island nations to highlight the vulnerabilities of our island countries to climate change while showcasing our strength and resilience as a people. We work through existing networks and with a range of partner organisations who share in our vision for the Pacific and the planet.
350 Pacific has organised, and facilitated workshops to educate and empower youth in the region, we have organised days of action to raise awareness and we have participated in the UN climate negotiations. Now, we are mobilising the warriors of the Pacific Islands to challenge the fossil fuel industry.
350’s Global Origins
Founded in 2008 by author, environmentalist and activist Bill McKibben, 350.org has grown from its humble beginnings into one of the world’s largest creative activism groups. 350’s campaigns, grassroots organising, and mass public actions are lead from the bottom up by thousands of individuals and volunteer organisers in over 188 countries. Together, we believe that action will bring us closer to climate safety, and a more sustainable climate system.
Now it’s the Pacific’s turn to take up the fight
“There are still some who believe that climate change is a distant threat but for us it is a present threat. It’s happening now and our people are being affected now”Hon. Tessie Eria Lambourne, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration for the Government of Kiribati
350 Pacific marks another step in our journey. The people of the Pacific Islands
are among the world’s most vulnerable to climate change, but 2014 marks the year that we begin to do something about it. It’s time for the proud people of the Pacific Islands to join forces with 350 to say enough is enough. We need to stand up
against the Fossil Fuel industry, stand up against climate change, and show the world that it’s not prepared to sit back and wait for the tides to rise. It’s time to #StandUpForThePacific!

What does the number 350 mean?
The number 350 means climate safety: to preserve a livable planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 400 parts per million to below 350 ppm.
We believe that a global grassroots movement can hold our leaders accountable to the realities of science and the principles of justice. That movement is rising from the bottom up all over the world, and is uniting to create the solutions that will ensure a better future for all.
With over 4000 languages spoken around the world, words don’t always get the point across. This wordless animation explains 350.org in 90 seconds:

If we’re already past 350, are we all doomed?
No. We’re like the patient that goes to the doctor and learns he’s overweight, or his cholesterol is too high. He doesn’t die immediately—but until he changes his lifestyle and gets back down to the safe zone, he’s at more risk for heart attack or stroke. The planet is in its danger zone because we’ve poured too much carbon into the atmosphere, and we’re starting to see signs of real trouble: melting ice caps, rapidly spreading drought, and more. We need to scramble back as quickly as we can to safety.
The 350 campaign is focused on making the connections between our actions and climate change easier to understand so we can turn this around.
