In response to the call for a Global Climate Strike by Greta Thunberg and numerous other people and groups, the Central Jersey Climate Coalition, students from Rutgers and surrounding high schools, teachers, professors, community members and others—will hold a 2:30 pm rally at Winants Hall on the Rutgers campus and we will march to Congressman Frank Pallone’s office in New Brunswick. We will call on him, as chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, to have full and fair hearings on the Green New Deal.

Demonstration at the bi-monthly State Investment Council meeting at 9:30 am in Trenton to demand New Jersey to divest its pension fund from fossil fuels followed by the meeting at 10:00am to make public comment in support of our divestment campaign, DivestNJ.

May 18th, Ridgefield Memorial High School, 1-3 pm: Youth and students across the region will lead the “March For Our Lungs: No Meadowlands Power Plant!”  Community members of all ages will gather for a rally before marching 3/4 of a mile to the proposed site of the fracked gas plant on the border of North Bergen. Together we will call on Governor Murphy to uphold his commitments to fight climate change, transition rapidly to 100% clean renewable energy sources, and protect a healthy and safe environment for all New Jerseyans. June 3rd, 563 Eagle Rock Avenue, Roseland, 4-6 pm at the gas compressor station site“Roseland Not Gasland – Rally Opposing the Gas Compressor Expansion.” Construction has started to more than double the size of this polluting monstrosity, and the coalition fighting this expansion is stepping up its game accordingly.
