{"id":4577,"date":"2009-05-11T16:26:31","date_gmt":"2009-05-11T16:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/world.350.org\/ja\/2009\/05\/11\/buddhists-taking-climate-change-dalai-lama-endorses-350-target\/"},"modified":"2009-05-11T16:26:31","modified_gmt":"2009-05-11T16:26:31","slug":"buddhists-taking-climate-change-dalai-lama-endorses-350-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/world.350.org\/ja\/buddhists-taking-climate-change-dalai-lama-endorses-350-target\/","title":{"rendered":"Buddhists Taking on Climate Change &#8212; The Dalai Lama Endorses the 350 Target!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Announcing&#8230; <strong>&#8220;The Time to Act Is Now &#8212; a Buddhist Declaration on Climate Change&#8221;<\/strong> just launched by our new friends at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\" target=\"_blank\">Buddhist Climate Project<\/a>.&nbsp; This is a truly profound statement (and website, if you ask me).&nbsp; And it&#8217;s most especially exciting to see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\/buddhist-climate-project.php?id=1\" target=\"_blank\">Dalai Lama&#8217;s official endorsement of the 350 target!<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\/buddhist-climate-project.php?id=1\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3372\/3521576831_23fd7079f6.jpg?v=0\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Dalai Lama's 350 Endorsement Letter\" width=\"386\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is what the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.ecobuddhism.org<\/a> website says in the introduction to the declaration:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;In the run-up to the crucial <a href=\"http:\/\/en.cop15.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.N. Climate Treaty Conference in Copenhagen<\/a> in December 2009, the Declaration that follows will present to the world&#8217;s media a unique spiritual view of climate change and our urgent responsibility to address the solutions. It emerged from the contributions of over 20 Buddhist teachers of all traditions to the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\/buddhist-climate-project.php?id=2\">A Buddhist Response to the Climate Emergency<\/a>. <\/em><em>The Time to Act is Now was composed as a pan-Buddhist statement by Zen teacher Dr David Tetsuun Loy and senior Theravadin teacher Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi with scientific input from Dr John Stanley.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Dalai Lama was the first to sign this Declaration.<\/strong> We invite all concerned members of the international Buddhist community to study the document and add their voice.&#8221;<br \/> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecobuddhism.org\/buddhist-declaration.php\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to read the full declaration,<\/a> <\/strong>(which includes specific mention of the 350 target), and share it with any Buddhists you know!<\/p>\n<p>There is much to report this week about communities of faith joining in the movement for 350 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.350.org\/faith\">sneak peak<\/a>).
