But as the country with the largest, most vulnerable population to climate change, coal is not the answer to our country&#039;s needs. Here is an infographic for just some of the reasons we don&#039;t want coal&#8230;<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/world.350.org\/india\/files\/2011\/08\/2350_800.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-188\" src=\"http:\/\/world.350.org\/india\/files\/2011\/08\/2350_800-348x1024.jpg\" style=\"width: 348px;height: 1024px;border-width: 0px;border-style: solid;margin: 5px;float: left\" title=\"2350_800\" \/><\/a>\n<p><strong>References<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>1. Coal is responsible for about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewclimate.org\/federal\/congressional-policy-brief-series\/addressing-emissions-coal-use-power-generation\" target=\"_blank\">40% of global greenhouse gas emissions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>2. India plans to generate <a href=\"http:\/\/planningcommission.nic.in\/reports\/genrep\/rep_intengy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">400,000 MW of coal generated power<\/a> in the next 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>3. <a href=\"http:\/\/world.350.org\/india\/files\/2011\/08\/Prayas_Paper_on_Thermal_Power_Plants_Aug_2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">2.06 billion tonnes<\/a> of coal is needed every year to generate this energy.<\/p>\n<p>4. About <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatenergychallengeblog.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/15\/india-energy-renewables\/\" target=\"_blank\">40% of Indians<\/a> don&#039;t have access to electricity.<\/p>\n<p>5. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psr.org\/assets\/pdfs\/psr-coal-fullreport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Ranging from Asthma to acute lung cancer<\/a>, the dangers are real and serious.<\/p>\n<p>6. <a href=\"http:\/\/leagueofindia.com\/article\/indias-coal-rush-interview-jharkhand-leader-bulu-imam\" target=\"_blank\">50,000 tribals have been displaced<\/a> in a single region of Jharkhand.<\/p>\n<p>7. Price of <a href=\"http:\/\/sierraclub.typepad.com\/compass\/2011\/05\/sierra-club-india-energy-costs.html\" target=\"_blank\">renewable energy is on par<\/a> with conventional energy.<\/p>\n<p>8. Rising prices have made the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnaindia.com\/money\/report_indonesian-nightmare-for-tata-adani-jsw-lanco_1554313\" target=\"_blank\">projects economically non viable<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>9. IPCC report on renewable energy potential of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/news_and_events\/docs\/ipcc33\/IPCC_Press_Release_11612_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">80% by 2050<\/a><\/p>\n<p>10. <a
