350 Silicon Valley has sent a letter that we want to make sure all 350 Humboldt members get.<\/strong> Please read and take action by clicking to send letters to Governor Newsom and to the Energy Commission<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Governor Newsom seemed to really GET IT. “This is a climate damn emergency,” he declared, memorably.<\/a> From reporter Rachel Becker’s article in CalMatters<\/a> and on the Capitol Public Radio website:<\/p>\n
\n

California law already calls for 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2045<\/a>, which Newsom called \u201cnice\u201d but \u201cinadequate to meet the challenges to the state.\u201d And in June, California EPA Secretary Jared Blumenfeld pledged to re-evaluate the state\u2019s landmark cap-and-trade program<\/a>. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cAcross the entire spectrum, our goals are inadequate,\u201d Newsom said. <\/em>He vowed to accelerate efforts to decarbonize the economy, increase the number of electric vehicles on California\u2019s roads, electrify transportation and green the state\u2019s soil, industrial and agricultural policies….<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWe have to step up our game. As we lead the nation in low carbon green growth, we\u2019ll have to fast track our efforts.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Let’s take this moment to hold Newsom to his stated goals and make some demands that he enact the policies that will make a difference<\/strong>.<\/span> Click here to write a letter to the Governor<\/a><\/strong><\/em> demanding that his administration<\/span><\/div>\n
