The heart of the Tolowa Dee-ni\u2019s ancestral territory, a property known as Reservation Ranch, was stolen from the Tolowa<\/a>. Over 150 years of mismanagement has left the property abused and degraded. The details of this degradation are ghastly, from the filling of tidal sloughs with manure to damming estuarine salmon habitat for use as freshwater irrigation ponds.<\/p>\n

People vs. Fossil Fuels<\/strong><\/p>\n

Any new fossil fuel project undermines President Biden\u2019s environmental justice and climate goals. The Department of Energy should reject applications for new gas projects that lock us into decades of fossil fuels for years to come. Submit your comment before July 11 to demand that the Biden administration deliver on their commitment to environmental justice.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

New Fortress\u2019s first proposed LNG export project is off the coast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, a region losing coastal wetlands at an alarming rate. Permitting this project will contribute to global warming and rising sea levels. The loss of wetlands in Jefferson Parish will impact fisherfolk who depend on the wetlands and clean water for their income. And a proposed export terminal for fracked gas will harm Gulf Coast communities and lock us into more fossil fuel emissions.<\/p>\n

To stop the expansion of fracking in Vaca Muerta, we need to stop money flowing to it. We do that by raising our voices and pressuring funders \u2013 including U.S. banks \u2013 to stop bankrolling the biggest operator in the region, oil giant YPF. The Mapuche Confederation \u2013 Indigenous people who have inhabited this land for generations \u2013 want this pipeline and exploration of Vaca Muerta to be stopped.<\/p>\n

The dangerous Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project has already degraded habitat of endangered species along its route, in addition to threatening the clean air and water of communities. Right now, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is reviewing MVP’s second extension application. FERC has the opportunity to fully evaluate the proposed MVP project by conducting additional environmental analysis and to decide whether or not to let this boondoggle continue to move forward.<\/p>\n

Our next post carding campaign will be to Colorado voters ahead of their June 28th<\/sup> state primary!<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll be sending postcards to environmental voters who voted in the 2020 General Election, but are unlikely<\/em> to vote in midterm elections based on their previous voting history. We expect to begin mailing out packages of postcards to signed-up volunteers beginning in late March, and the required \u201cmail-to-voters\u201d date for this round of postcards is on Monday, June 6th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

We mostly postcard for ROV (Reclaim Our Vote), which is non-partisan, but have also postcarded for Activate America (which used to be called Flip the West), which is partisan.<\/p>\n
