Our core mission is to k<\/strong>eep fossil fuels in the ground and transition to an equitable, low-carbon future. We work to advance strong climate policy at local, state, and federal levels; promote divestment from fossil fuels; support renewable infrastructure; oppose new fossil fuel infrastructure; and foster climate-related conversations, art, and community engagement.<\/h5>\n

Legislative work\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We meet regularly with state representatives, and coordinate activities with a statewide network of climate activists. Let us know if you’re interested: <\/span>350humboldt@gmail.com<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Local priorities<\/strong><\/h4>\n

At the local level we <\/i>advocate for a wide range of policies to reduce our greenhouse gases: clean energy projects, including offshore wind; infill development instead of sprawl; electrification for new construction; public transit; bike lanes; wise forestry and agricultural practices. We also encourage candidates for local office to take the Climate Pledge<\/a>. <\/i><\/p>\n

Activities
\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We host a weekly letter-writing party that focuses on climate issues and getting out the vote for climate champions.\u00a0 Our general meeting takes place once a month; our committees meet on a varying schedule. We\u2019ve also been known to march, party, and demonstrate!<\/p>\n

Speaker series<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Every two to three months, 350 Humboldt sponsors a compelling speaker to address a range of topics related to climate change. Let us know if there\u2019s a speaker you\u2019d like us to host! You can also volunteer to help promote and organize presentations: 350humboldt@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
