On April 11th, 350 Eugene hosted its Transportation Town Hall in a series of Town Halls focused on mobilizing climate change action by the residents of Eugene, Springfield and Lane County. Approximately 150 people attended including Mayor Vinis and other City of Eugene reps to hear Linda Heyl’s presentation on how Transportation makes up the largest portion of carbon emissions for Eugene. After hearing the case for how Eugene needs to evolve its modes of transportation, the attendees then chose one of three breakout groups to help define further priorities in: walking/biking, Transit/LTD, and Electric Vehicles. Each break out group brainstormed ways to improve these means of transportation, followed by each participant then voting on their top 3 ideas. The highest ranking ideas will continue to be worked on by members of these breakout groups with the goal of implementing as many as possible by City of Eugene, Lane Transit District and faster transition to EVs by residents of Eugene and Lane County.

The Climate Town Hall #2 Action Group Follow-up Meeting will be on April 25th at the LCC downtown campus from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
