CAMPAIGNS

There’s so much work to be done in our region to ensure a sustainable future. We’re proud to be organizing behind all of these great campaigns, and we’ve provided info to help get you involved!

Yes on East King County PUD! – Public Power on the Eastside

Puget Sound Energy is a for-profit, foreign-owned company that is heavily invested in dirty natural gas infrastructure. As much as they may market themselves as a tried-and-true Northwestern business, they do not have the best interests of our region and its climate future at heart. Replacing PSE with a Public Utility District on the Eastside would give local control over our community’s power – allowing us to choose to generate our power from renewable resources and providing direct accountability to residents instead of to foreign shareholders.

Stop the Money Pipeline – Divest from the Polluters

Even though we know we have just a few years to shift course, big banks & Wall Street investors are still funding pipelines & dirty fossil fuel infrastructure that will lock in emissions for decades to come. We need big financial players to step up and acknowledge their role in fueling the climate crisis – by divesting from nonrenewables & dirty fossil fuel infrastructure and investing in greener technologies instead, we can force them to finance a world that is truly sustainable & works for all of us. Check out the campaign here.

#BuildBackFossilFree – A Chance for a Truly Just Recovery

COVID-19 has caused immeasurable hardship for so many, but it has presented our society with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reflect on what type of world we want when we “return to normal.” Many have realized that returning to “business as usual” will lead to climate collapse and impacts many orders of magnitude more devastating than those from COVID. With a new administration, our country has a unique chance to transition to infrastructure & policies that are sustainable & fossil free. That’s why we’re proud to participate in the #BuildBackFossilFree Initiative – check out how you can get involved.

Resistance – No LNG

350 Eastside supports the efforts of other local 350 chapters to stop the construction of a new fracked gas facility in Tacoma. To learn more about the project and to get involved, check out the 350 Seattle page on the effort.
