State action here – thanks 350Seattle!

Share Tweet

Hi Jeanne,

Have you heard of the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression Act?

The EATS Act aims to strip state and local governments of their ability to make agricultural and health policies for their own communities — policies that protect animal welfare, limit pollution, protect workers, and the health and well-being of communities.

We need to defeat the EATS Act and all other versions of the EATS Act in the upcoming Farm Bill. Please send a message to Washington State Representatives & Senators and tell them No to EATS!

Stop the EATS Act is urgent – the Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee is including his version of the EATS Act in the Farm Bill. The Chairman’s language is not a compromise — it has the exact same negative impact on state and local government’s ability to set their own course on agriculture policy.

We need your help to defeat EATS and all other versions of this act. The EATS Act is a power grab by a handful of global agribusinesses to the detriment of farmers, our land and water, our health, animals, consumers, and local governments. It would hurt states’ rights while furthering corporations’ power to squeeze U.S. farms and put our people’s safety at risk.

Please write to your House member and our Senators.

And if you can, please call their offices as well. Here is a call script and list of phone numbers.

Say No to EATS!

In Solidarity,
The Federal Policy Team
