60 young climate communicators kick-started People’s Climate Mobilisation Vietnam campaign, when they gathered together in the Climate Change Communications Camp (4C) which took place on September 5-7 in Da Nang (Vietnam). The workshop was co-organized by 350.org and Redrraw the Line.
During the 3-day workshop, the young participants not only learned from the prominent communications experts on the best ways to communicate hard topics like climate change, but also had the chance to discuss new ideas and build concepts for campaigning on the relevant issues related to climate change: clean energy, food waste, sustainable tourism.
The 4C campers also listened to the exciting plans of the next global climate action: the People’s Climate March, and have joined the Facebook group of East Asia’s digital communicators, where members share digital resources and tools which they will use to mobilize and engage the public for 350.org’s first ever East Asia climate campaign – the People’s Climate March East Asia. The campaign will be coordinated by 350.org and its partners across the region, and will bring people together on September 20-21, in dozens of cities of Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, to send an urgent demand to the world leaders at the UN Climate Summit for real action, not words.
Since coming back from 4C, and through to September 21 and beyond, these newly trained communicators will join hands with 350.org Vietnam in People’s Climate Mobilization Vietnam, and will hopefully join the force of climate activists that will build momentum for a needed renewable energy revolution in Vietnam that will benefit both the people and the climate.
